Incredibly Detailed Photos of Yosemite

Xres have a series of very large scale images, including several shots of El Capitan and Half Dome. The images are Gigabytes in size, and use the Google Maps interface to provide a browser that you can use to zoom and move the image. Incredible. (Via Information Aesthetics)

The Newsletter

In order to keep you abreast of our new developments, we have created a monthly newsletter.

There is a degree of customisation built into our newsletter; you can edit your profile to pinpoint your location, which we then use to load your newsletter with items related to where you are (we won’t make your location publicly known - it will be randomised somewhat if it is displayed on our site).

If you don’t want to be receiving the newsletter, then you can unsubscribe by editing your profile.

Oh, and while I have your attention, why not pop into our forums and introduce yourself - get to know other climbers from around the world, and help make Bouldr brilliant!

Climb Clustering

Our explorer was beginning to suffer from submission-overload, so we have just updated it to include clustering. Climbs that are too close to be distinguished on the explorer will now be represented by a single marker.

Take a look at The Tank at Burbage South for example - lots of climbs in a relatively small area. The old explorer showed a marker for each climb, causing markers to be hidden. In our new explorer, these six climbs are displayed over four markers, reducing complexity while increasing speed.

Other interesting clusters:
* Burbage
* Stanage
* Hobson Moor

If you want to view the climbs in each cluster, then click on the marker and use the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ links to move between them.
