About Bouldr

Bouldr is a completely new free service that allows climbers from all over the world to share advice, new problems, local knowledge, and other such climbing related information for free.

We have two simple aims:
  1. We want you to be able to get concise information about climbing at any location in the world Bouldering guides have for a long time (and will for a long time to come) be the standard method of getting information on climbing when ‘out in the field’; as it were. Bouldr is different - we want to be able to allow anyone to get concise information of areas that may not be local, and may only be visited once or twice a year by a particular climber - i.e. those areas that it would be a waste of money buying a full guide for.
  2. We want you to be able to easily find climbing partners nearby Finding a climbing partner is not always that simple - if you are new to climbing, and don’t know any climbers, then finding people local to yourself can be a difficult task. Bouldr will provide a method by which you can find climbers near you, and contact them to arrange a meet-up or day out at a crag.

How Does It Work?

Bouldr is community-driven, which means that you can upload the climbs that you know about, so that other visitors to the site can get information on climbs from all over the world. We want to bring climbs that are only known to a few people out from obscurity, and allow everyone to see them!

How Does It Benefit Me?

The information provided by Bouldr may help you if you are, say, planning a climbing trip or going on holiday and want to know if there are any good spots nearby. We encourage problems of all grades to be added so that there is a wealth of information for any standard of climber and for any part of the world.

What Can I Do?

This is entirely up to you - you can browse through our site as much as you want - find new problems at your local crag, or assess the climbing at another. You do not have to register with us to look through the problems listed on the site.

For the more active of you, you can add your own ‘two-cents’ to the community: Join in! Add comments to other climbers contributions, grade existing routes and problems, or even create your own climbs.

Do as much or as little as you please, but always have fun!

If This Service Is Free, How Do You Make Any Money?

The information available through our service will always be free to view and contribute to. We are currently looking into different ways in which to fund the site, however, we do not want to introduce ‘over the top’ advertising or charges for content; it is very important to us to ensure that everyone can get the most out of our community without having to pay for it.

As for your email address if you register - we will never sell, give away or share your email with third parties unless we are required to do so by law. Our privacy statement covers the full detail on this subject, but be assured we are good people here.
